School Meals

We pride ourselves in our home cooked food and encourage all our children to have a hot school meal.

Meals provided by the school meet the School Food Standards. 

 

All children from Reception to Year 2 are entitled to a Universal Free School Meal, which is subsidised by the Government.

 

Children in Year 3 to Year 6 have the following options available to them at lunchtimes:

  • A healthy packed lunch
  • If you are a parent or carer, and receive any of the benefits below, then your child (of any school age) is eligible for income based Free School Meals.

    • Income Support
    • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
    • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
    • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
    • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
    • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

     

    If your application for Free School Meals is successful, Welford Primary School will also receive extra funding from the Government to use in support of teaching and learning (Pupil Premium).

Snacks

We have a mid-morning healthy snack each day, which you can provide from home for your child or you can order one from school.

To order a snack from school, please complete our snack form and bring the completed form to the main school office with the correct money, every Monday morning.
